The Internet service called Usenet is a series of "bulletin boards" organized according to various topics. Each topic is called a newsgroup. Newsgroups are named using a hierarchical structure.
For example, under it.cultura there would appear it.cultura.ateismo and it.culture.cattolica.
All of the levels start at "it".
In my experience, the writing of ordinary Italians is easier to understand than the more professional wordsmithing of journalists.
